Hostel Support Worker - Leicester

Job Title Hostel Support Worker
Summary of Job Tasks (Brief Description of Duties)
· Provides information, advice and support to residents, and assists with a programme of social activities within and outside the hostel.· Provides clerical and administrative support.· Undertakes escorted visits.· Supports individuals in developing an insight into what they might need to improve their quality of life, or maintain their tenancy when they move on.· Undertakes general domestic duties e.g. laundry work, cleaning and the provision of meals and snacks when required.· Assists with emergency situations, involving management as instructed.· Assists with accessing services and dealing with issues such as D.W.P. · Assists in facilitating resident support groups.· Liases with other appropriate organisations, on their administrative processes, and to provide for the support needs of residents. Helps with maintenance and security of the building.· Undertakes the admission of residents.· Maintains security throughout hostel.· Takes all telephone enquiries and referrals.
Training/Qualifications
Awareness of current welfare benefits and grants.Training in counselling / mental health / substance abuse.
Experience
Experience of administration and simple report writing.Experience of working in residential accommodation, or similar environment.

Other Conditions
Willing and able to work unsociable hours, i.e. evenings, weekends and Bank Holidays.Accessible via telephone, or other short-notice contact.May be required to undertake sleep-ins
