Purpose and Objectives of the Job
a)Deliver the Councils asylum seekers service.
b)Liaise with local groups and organisations to ensure that the needs of asylum seekers are met;
c)Provide a support role in developing social and community contacts with asylum seekers;
d)Assist and contribute to the development, monitoring and implementation of the Council’s services to asylum seekers.
Control of Resources
You are responsible for:
Financial
Any Council money involved in the work.
Equipment/Materials
Developing and maintaining adequate recording systems (manual and computerised).
Any equipment and materials involved in the work.
Health/Safety/Welfare
Responsible for health, safety and welfare of self and colleagues in line with the Council’s and department’s policy statements.
Relationships (Internal and External)
You will develop and sustain the following relationships:

Asylum Seekers Support Team
Chief Officers, management and staff of Council departments and of Rochdale Boroughwide Housing Limited
Councillors
Trade Union representatives
External
Representatives of local groups and organisations
North West Consortium for Asylum Seekers
Staff of Government departments
Staff and management of other councils and public service agencies
Members of the public
Suppliers of equipment and property services
